All bulbs burn brighter and/or longer in one orientation or another... even the universal bulbs burn better in different orientation....
http://www.ushio.com/Files/UMHSeries.pdf
at the bottom of this pdf is orientation for some ushio bulbs for output they are claiming..... wouldn't need to list this if it always produced same results....
| Quote: | Burning Orientation
Most metal halide lamps are designed to operate in a specific burning position, such as horizontal, vertical with base up, or vertical with base down. Operating metal halide lamps in burning positions other than those recommended by the manufacturer will adversely affect lamp life and lumen output. Many manufacturers also produce "universal position" lamps (see below), which are relatively insensitive to burning position. |

note: they say relatively insensitive
| Quote: | The bulbs themselves need to be burned in a specific position. They come in three types: Vertical (marked BU or BD), Horizontal (marked HOR) and Universal (marked U). The universal bulbs can be burned in any position, but they still are more efficient when burned vertically.

That looks great. Very neat construction and staining. Is that your monitor control panel on the side?
Pictures not too bad for ambient light. I assume the ceiling fan lights are in front of the screen. I have found that you can pretty much have as many lights on as you want behind the screen(in another room or on the same wall) and not get too much interference with the picture quality. _________________ for info on projection panels, cables and pinouts

Yes, the control panel from the lilliput. Bites, cuz the face of that guy looks washed out, but pictures are definitely not the same as real life. The ceiling fan is about 45 degrees in front and to the side. So 1 light is directly facing the screen. With my shades turned to close and the lights off, there is less brightness in the room ambient than when the lights are on. I think I measured about 130-150 lux in the ambient room. It is bright enough as is. I can get brighter images, but not sure how to keep the lcd cool much higher than it has. My wife says leave it alone before I break it. |
