How to Mount and Install a Round Cold Mirror

This article explains how to mount a cold mirror that is round, such as the 4.75" cold mirror that we are currently offering in the online store. To finish this mini project, you will need a scrap of wood that can be cut into 2 pieces that are approximately 1x5x1/2" (inches). You will also need two small wood screws, a screwdriver to match the screw head type, and the cold mirror.

In order to mount the mirror to the wood, sandwich the mirror between the two strips, then put screws through the wood as shown in the picture. Tighten them firmly. It is important to make sure that they do not touch the mirror or that you tighten too hard - either can crack the mirror, though in either case the mirror is still fairly tolerant.

You should now be able to slide/wiggle the mirror so that it is centered with just the edge of the mirror covered by the wood mount. Now that you have your mirror in a frame, you can put it anywhere in your projector by using wood glue or screws/bolts, though metal fasteners are preferred since the heat and UV radiation that may come from your lamp could eventually break the glue, causing the mirror the fall and/or break.

If this type of design will not work in your projector, you may consider using one or more pieces of our IR filter glass, available in the online store.
