SV-11 Projector Instructions Step 5: Installing The LCD Panel In this step we will install the LCD panel onto the LCD tray. These instructions are generic and must be adapted to your specific LCD panel. Whenever you work with your LCD panel, please take extra care to avoid electrical discharge between you and the LCD panel - always touch a grounded piece of metal (like a computer case or metal desk lamp) before touching the LCD so that you do not shock it, possibly damaging it permanently. You must first disassemble your LCD panel before you can into the SV-11. This set of instructions assumes that you have already disassembled your panel and removed its backlight if it had one. Carefully center the LCD panel over the hole in the LCD tray that you made previously. It is important that your LCD be oriented so that the front of the LCD panel (as you would view it normally) be facing down as you are mounting it. In other words, you will mount the LCD panel as if you are viewing the image from the back of the LCD (the image would be reversed from right to left). Then, rotate the LCD 180 degrees so that the image would also be upside-down. Overall, the image has been completely inverted now. When you use the LCD in the projector, the lens will effectively un-invert the image so that it is shown correctly on your projection screen or wall. To secure the LCD to the LCD tray, you can use any means that will hold it securely under moderate heat from the light source, and without crushing or shorting out the LCD panel. I use a significant amount of liquid RTV gasket to effectively adhere the LCD to the LCD tray, but if you use this method you should be especially careful not to get electrical components wet with the RTV chemical - it conducts just enough electricity that it can short electrical components, rendering your LCD (temporarily, in my case) unusable. Another method would be to use some sort of metal mounting brackets and wood screws. If you use this method, use electrical tape between the LCD and LCD tray, and also between the mounting hardware and the LCD. This will reduce the physical stress on the LCD panel so that it will not crack. Finally! We are ready to do the final assembly of our projector and start enjoying it!
