MkIV Projector Design Instructions

Construction of this projector design will require at least the following parts (for a complete projector):

  • MkIV Enclosure (DPC# MkIV)
  • Projection Lens (DPC# triplet-135 or triplet-80)
  • Fresnel Lens (DPC# DF-15)
  • Light Source (DPC# MH250 or MH400)
  • 15.5"x15.5" glass (DPC# gls-15 or gls-15uv
  • 12"x12" or similar mirror (DPC# mirror-12)
  • 1/2" or smaller dowel rod
  • Cooling System (DPC# fan-kit)

Step 1: Cutting Panels

In order to build the enclosure, you will first need to cut several panels. We recommend using 1/2" thick MDF, but you can also use plywood or similar materials if you wish. If you are unable to cut the panels yourself, please note that we offer this enclosure pre-cut in our online store.

You will need the following panels:

  • (2x) Side panels A and B - 20"x17" (can be made from 1/4" material for weight reduction)
  • (2x) Front/Back panels - 19"x17"
  • (2x) Top/Bottom panels - 17"x17"
  • (1x) Fresnel (LCD) tray - 17"x16"

It is recommended that you cut these panels with a table saw if possible - keeping straight edges will help prevent light from leaking into your projection area. If you only have a circular saw or similar, then you will be able to seal the enclosure from light leak later on using duct tape from the inside.
